Summer Camps with Rogue Valley Farm to School

We are very excited to be working with the Ashland Food Co-op, YMCA and ScienceWorks to bring food awareness to Summer Camp programs.

Ashland Food Co-op Summer Camps

Click on the date to register for these three upcoming Summer Camps: June 13-17, July 18-22 or August 8-12.

Each week campers will dive into food production, preparation and exploration, with a mix of farm and kitchen experiences that delight the senses and inspire the soul. Join Rogue Valley Farm to School staff as they cultivate the ability to grow and cook delicious, healthy, seasonal meals. Hands-on farming and cooking will be a part of each day, as will seasonal crafts, science investigations and fun-loving games.

Monday-Wednesday-Friday campers will be cooking in the Co-op Classroom. Tuesday-Thursday campers will be on-farm at The Farm at SOU.

Scholarships available for Jackson Care Connect members (⅓ of the price). For this discount, please register in person at the Ashland Food Co-op Info Desk instead of registering online.

Ashland YMCA Summer Camps

Rogue Valley Farm to School will be running local seasonal food tasting tables twice a week at lunch times on Tuesdays and Fridays during the Ashland YMCA's summer camps. Tasting tables involve serving samples of a local, seasonal fruit or vegetable prepared in two ways. After sampling, summer camp attendees receive a recipe to take home and vote on what they thought about the new foods.

Register online for the YMCA's summer camps.

Urban Homesteading with ScienceWorks

August 29th-Sept 2nd 2016, M - F, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Register online.

What if you needed to provide your own food, energy, and living space for the entire year? What would you eat, how would you store and prepare it? What would you need to design and build? Join Rogue Valley Farm to School educators at The Farm at SOU for a morning of farming, cooking and eating.

We'll make our own lunch each day using farm-fresh food and you'll go home with some food to share with your family! Then spend the afternoon with instructors at ScienceWorks getting inventive with sustainable energy and materials. We'll invent ways to build homes, protect our crops from those pesky deer, harness the wind, and more! It's a full day of food, fabrication, and fun!

We are looking for volunteers to help out at summer camps on these dates: June 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30. Volunteers are needed 8:30am-2:30pm on these days. If you are interested in being involved please get in touch.
