NEW! Tastebud Trekkers: Let Us Bring the Local Harvest to You!
Are you excited about making local agriculture come alive in your classroom, but you are unable to attend a farm field trip this year? Tastebud Trekkers is an exciting, hands-on program that brings the farm to your classroom! Our educators will lead your students through a 75-minute lesson focused on a seasonally available, locally-grown fruit or vegetable. Students will become junior chefs by practicing basic cooking skills and working together to prepare a quick and simple tasty snack using the featured ingredient. Beyond the recipe, we'll explore where the fruit or vegetable comes from, from the soil to the plate, helping kids connect with our local food system and understand how these foods fuel their bodies.
This program is designed to serve two classes at your school per day. Programs run on Wednesdays. You and another teacher at your school can select from the following two options* for time slots:
Earlier option: 8:30am-9:45am & 10:15am-11:30am
Later option: 10:00am-11:15am & 11:45am-1:00pm
*If these times do not work for you, please let us know when you register and we will make adjustments to meet your scheduling needs.
